Countertop Ice Makers

When choosing the perfect countertop ice maker for your home or event, there are many factors to consider and suppliers to choose from.

I’ve saved you the trouble of sifting through hundreds of different brands and models and narrowed them down to the 3 best ones you can find on the market right now. The selection process was based on various factors such as online reviews, features, pricing etc. and the devices have been listed in no particular order.

I’ve also ensured that there is a good mix of small, countertop options for the home and other larger units which are capable of creating more ice if so desired. If you are interested in sonic ice makers specifically, click here for available options.

Igloo ICE103 or Think Gizmo TG22

If you’re looking for something that’s truly portable, the price to reliability to weight to production ratio doesn’t get much better than the Igloo ICE103.

Capable of producing it’s body weight (25 lbs) in ice in a 24 hour period and storing a little over 2 lbs at a time, this option is perfect for homes and small gatherings.

It is also able to produce three different ice sizes and automatically stop production when the storage bin is full.

Retailing at only $121 on Amazon, this item is currently the number 1 bestseller in the ice maker category and it has been for some time.  In fact, it has the top two bestseller positions because the Think Gizmo TG22 is basically the same design but with a different brand name.

ICE103 vs TG22

The TG22 is a little more expensive, however, retailing at $169.

Sporting generally favorable reviews at 4 stars out of 5 from over 350 customers, I’d say that’s some good data to draw conclusions from. When I looked at the reviews individually, most of the reviews that were less than four stars were from people who don’t understand how ice machines work, weren’t using the machine properly or had nit picky criticisms. We all know how Amazon users are.

Extremely similar to the Igloo, this device is an efficient producer of sonic ice; also able to produce 26 pounds in 24 hours, but at 5 pounds lighter.

It has a 4 star Amazon review and is the number 4 best selling appliance in its category.

Another difference is that it produces two ice sizes as opposed to three but I doubt that’s a big deal for most people.

The biggest difference between the two is how they physically look. The Ivation has a larger top window so you can look how much ice has been produced without opening the device and the finish is slightly different.

Considering all these things, it’s no surprise that the Ivation is also being sold for the basically the same price as the Igloo – $119.
